Default Front prop shaft slinging grease on catalytic converter

I installed a Tom Woods front prop shaft a while back, and constantly have a burnt grease smell from the grease slinging all over the exhaust and catalytic converter. Is there a heat shield that people use, or am I just using too much grease?

Do a search, couple recent heat shield threads.

I tried several other search parameters, but didn’t find anything grease related. This was the closest thread I could find. If anyone has experienced anything similar, I’m all ears. https://landroverforums.com/forum/di...veshaft-97936/

I have the same issue after greasing the driveshaft, but I clean around the u-joints thoroughly. Then it throws some residues only. It smokes and smells a little bit and it's gone after the first couple hundred miles.

First few times I greased I did it on/under the truck and it was hard to get enough of the greaase off. Last time I took the shaft off and put it on a table to clean up as much of the grease as I could, hard to get a the shop towl in all of the crevices but it worked well enough that I didnt get much hot grease smell.

To clean off the slung grease I used spray decreser and a pressure washer. (not on the shaft, when truck was cool)

Yup. They make a bit of a mess when they get greased. I have the same issues. It prevents rust, right?

This is the way I do it too. It's just overall the least bad way.

Also apologies for the slung grease on there haha. It's proof at least that I greased it all. the. time. lol
