Default Front d/s zerk and clearance

I had to replace the standard zerk on the slip joint with a low profile type because the original one got sheared off by the cat. I need to find the correct tip for my grease gun so I can service this zerk, but I'm having a hard time finding it. There is more visible rubbing on the cat and drive shaft now than when the zerk was replaced a couple months ago. Any ideas on how this can be prevented? In the pic you can see the rubbed area on the cat as well as the nicked corners on the zerk. TIA.

Any auto parts store will have the grease needle for the low profile zerks.

Can you "tweak" the exhaust so they dont rub?

Ohh errr, I HATE those "flush" stupid nipples, aircraft a covered in those things and they block up, you then go to grease em and the pressure builds up and PFFFFTTTT!!! you get a faceful of grease lol. Zerks are much better.

Incidently, the front shaft "should" have a blanking plug fitted, and you fit the nipple at grease time only to avoid the contact issues and refit plug when done greasing.

Thinking about it, just use what you have now as a blanking plug, then refit a zerk to grease and vice versa when your done, no need for new attachments then

The driveshaft is close to the cat, but not that close, not on my truck anyways. Are you absolutely sure that it is the cat that did that ???

You can always use the old factory style plug, which is flush and install a regular zerk only to grease the shaft twice a year.

I'll try the replacement with the regular zerk for the service. Don't know why I didn't think about that, especially since I have some in a box already from when the first one got sheared off.

Darover-
Yes I am sure it is the cat that is the causing the issue. When the zerk was sheared off there was a little gouge on the surface of the cat. Now there seems to be more rubbing from the balancing weight on d/s.

Spike-
On the way in to work I too was think that the cat may have been installed just a few degrees off. I'll look into "tweaking" it too.

UrbanPanzer-
I have heard from others about the blanking plug but mine seems to be without one.

Thanks again for your input.
