Front and rear diff difference?

I know the factory front and rear diffs have different flange mountings to their respective driveshafts. Is everything else the same? Other than this, can they be used interchangeably?

Otherwise identical. Grab a front diff and a D1 rear driveshaft, junk yard rotoflex delete.
