Default Front Wheel Play

When I was finishing up my brakes last night I noticed there is a decent amount of play in the front wheels when grabbing the sides of the wheels and pulling back and fourth. There is no play grabbing and pulling on the top and bottom of the wheel.

I also get some slight vibration when turning and noise while driving. Not sure if this is related.

I've tried searching but I assume this indicates a bad drag link/ball joints?

Could, and there is also an adjustment to tighten up the steering box. Eventually the parts get so worn that an oscillation can start, called the Death Wobble. You will know him when you meet him by the tightening of sphincter muscle as your driving skill is tested to retain control. I replaced wheel bearings, and all the ball joints and a sticking caliper. Each truck will have different wear. I bought new joints that came with a zerk fitting.

How many miles on the truck, were both front tires off the ground and do you know how to check the tie rod ends and ball joints?

Yes both wheels were on stands, lug nuts were on as wrench tight as you can get them while suspended. When grabbing the top and bottom of the wheel pushing and pulling (the opposite direction with each hand) there was no movement. When grabbing the sides there was some decent movement and was really loose.

Truck has 114k miles on it.
