Default front window clacking 4 times when raising it.

I pu lled my right front door apart to see why my window was clacking when raising it,....I found a broken regulator roller, so I went ahead and replaced it with one of the shapeways 3D rollers. Being confident that was the problem,....I put the door back together,....only to find out that the window still clacks 4 times loudly when raising it. Wondering if the motor might be loose and the gears are skipping or if something is moving enough to cause the motor and gear to bind momentarily,....then pop and unload and start the process over again,....popping 4 times on each window raising.

Anyone experienced this,.....tearing it apart again tomorrow,....would like some input before doing so.

Brian in San Antonio.

Did you spray all the rubber seals with silicone to lubricate? Those rubber seals get so tacky they ripped up a brand new regulator on my truck last spring. That might help some.

I took it all apart again today,.....and pulled the regulator assembly out to watch it as it went up and down to find out where the loud clacking sounds were coming from,.....and,....of course,.....without the load,......no clacking,....so will try the silicone spray thing tomorrow while the door is still apart,....if that doesn't fix it,....Ill let it go until it breaks,............unless someone can tell me where that popping is coming from.

It could be the motor gear slipping when load is present.

Thinking that might be the case,....I closely inspected the big crescent shaped gear on the regulator to see if I could see any excessively worn teeth,,.....they all looked OK,....cant see the motor gear as its covered by the regulator.

I got around to lubing the window channels with Silicone spray today. Heavily sprayed all the tracks and the window glass itself. Didn't make any diferrnce still have the 4 clacks like a gear skip when raising the window. The clacks are equally spaced about a second apart when raising the window.

If they're regular, that indicates it's a rotating part. Take a look at that motor gear.
