Front Wipers: new motor, new switch...still no intermittent or slow
I realize this is a tired topic but I'm out of options-sorry to bring it up again...I've even checked other forums [gasp]
Last winter the slow and intermittent settings stopped working. After reading on here that switches go bad I removed mine and cleaned it. Put it back in, no dice. Bought a new (used) switch, installed...still no dice.
Today I installed a replacement motor thinking the slow speed brushes were worn out. (common problem according to forums). The replacement motor worked identically to original.
I hear a faint tick when I engage the wiper lever/switch, does this indicate anything about the switch? What am I missing? Is there a relay?

9 times out of 10, it's old, dried grease in the switch inhibiting contact. I can almost guarantee that your original AND the used replacement have the same issue.... These trucks are old enough that they all have the issue unless it's already been fixed.

I agree. I have no experience in this area, as I have not yet had this problem with the Disco. But squirts' comments above reflect my initial reaction; and note: he has been a member of the forum for 8 years.
thank you for the feedback...i cleaned the switch once but may not have done it properly or thoroughly enough. will update back when i can.
For what it's worth, I've done this on probably half a dozen trucks. It has worked every time. Disassemble the switch to completely expose the contacts and use a scotch brite pad with some electronics cleaner to get all the old crusty stuff out. Do a thorough job and it will be good for the next 15 years.
