Went ahead and left it with an independent mechanic to see if they could diagnose it. They
said they should be able to get back to me at the end of the day or tomorrow morning. I want to get this settled. I'll be damned if I get this lingering amigo's bs.

As I said the lights went off but I'm hoping it could have just been some brake dust throwing the light but it does indeed sound like the intermittent fault.

hope they diagnose it for free. you can get a used ABS amigo for $100-$125. use it, keep it for the next problem, or sell it.

Yep,
When I scanned the ABS codes last week it was the 114 error(basically bad or no ground). So I was going to start with option B. I was trying to avoid bleeding the brakes since its messy and just bled them last summer with Stain steel line install. They are not hard to bleed and a helper(brake pedal pusher makes it go much faster).

I rent the ABS Amigo for $40 for 2weeks and $10 each additional week. It has been rented solid for the last year, from folks on the forum. I have not even be able to fix my own Rover. Maybe I have gotten the cost of the reader back and 3 tanks of gas. Whew who.

My 2001 did this the lites turned on and went off, a few weeks later did the same, I replaced the ABS modulator, as the same time i did rotors and pads as I needed them, I found the my pistons where seized in the calipers, so check that out, the rebuild kit for the calipers are $12.00 per side, you might as well do this, while u replace the A.b.s. modulator as this seems to be the most common prob, and yes verey easey to change, as long as you can bleed brakes.Since I did this no more warning lites!

I bet that was cheap! My amigos came and went for a few weeks. If they visited me at start-up, they would extinguish on a key cycle, but often they would visit me while driving to and from work. After a while, I tired of their visits. Bosshoggt had his amigo rented out already, and I knew brake dust wasn't an issue, so I ohm'ed my valve: bad.

I went with Josh's option "B" fix: https://landroverforums.com/forum/di...s-fault-26847/

and replaced the seals, even though they weren't yet leaking: https://landroverforums.com/forum/di...e-seals-41977/

It's been almost a month now, and my dash has been very boring, showing only speed, revs, fuel level, and temp. Nothing more.
