I have searched and searched, and I can't find the part number or name of the adapter needed to use my standard fuel pressure gauge on the disco? Do I just need to rent one of those large fuel pressure test kits from the parts store? Thanks in advance.
the amazon kit small fitting fit. correct thread n pitch, but a ID a hair too big, so loose for first few turns....probably just get a bosch fitting for the valve. rest of kit was fine...30$
I went to two local parts stores and looked at their fuel pressure gauge rental kits, neither of them had a fitting/adapter to fit the disco. We measured the thread, and it looks to be M12 x 1.75. I can't find an adapter online. Autozone had a larger kit available with supposedly a lot of different adapters, but it was out for rent yesterday, the kits I got to look at resembled the kit in this link. So I'm still on the search. I wish someone could post a link that is 100% the part I need. I don't want to buy another fuel pressure gauge unless I absolutely have to in order to get the adapter I need.
Here's the link to the pressure kit XRAD recommended.
I never located the correct adapter, so I had my friend take his rover to our local indy shop, they tested the fuel pressure and it only had 25 pounds. So my assumption that the cause of the hard/long starts and engine lean codes is the extremely weak fuel pump. This particular disco has been running on this fuel pressure for a few years...This disco has 237k on the clock, Im pretty sure this is the original pump, but not 100%
Ok, so me being completely dumb on this subject, and confusing all of you when I started this thread searching for the correct adapter to screw my fuel pressure gauge in..... The valve I was trying to adapt my fuel pressure gauge to months ago was this green capped valve (complete with label tag??) that has to do with the evap emissions system, not high pressure fuel..... Now, that I have torn down my first Rover engine to do head gaskets, I now understand what goes where and how things are routed! lol. I didn't realize the correct pressure test valve port was on the fuel rail under the rear of the upper intake manifold. Sorry for being a dumb azz....anyway
back when I was trying to test the fuel pressure (unsuccessfully) on this particular rover, a friend of mine owned it. I had him take it to our nearest indy shop, they charged 50 dollars to give it a fuel pressure test, 25 pounds. I wish I would have submitted a pic of this valve earlier, you all would have fixed me.
