Default Fuel smell at start up 2003 disco 2

Trying to figure this out, not the cap, not a fuel leak, all gaskets are good connections are good, just cant pin point it and wondering if anyone else had this and found out what it was. I have 2003 disco 2 with Cannibal engine, could it be in secondary air?

Are you showing any codes? If not then your catalytic converters just haven't warmed up yet. They don't work until they hit 750 degrees. That combined with the fact that the engine runs rich at first startup do make it smell like gasoline.

Alex,
Are there any codes when you have a bad catalytic converter?
I got the same exact thing but most of the codes are O2 related.

Yep, threw codes like a ****. Bad O2s could definitely cause a gas smell because you'll constantly be running rich. Kills gas mileage too most of the time.

Do you smell it inside or outside the vehicle.

It is under the hood, all new O2 in fact everything is new except charcoal can and secondary air pieces.... I am thinking it might be charcoal.... I have had codes but they are random secondary air codes..... but when everything tested like pump and all it looks good.... gas cap and all that is fine as well..... all vacuum hoses are new as well. I just put in Cannibal V8

Line connector between fuel rail and line from tank.
Injector seals.
Most likely source of your leak, but you're aren't seeing because of location.

Charcoal cannister is at rear of vehicle, highly unlikely you are smelling that from under the hood unless it has completely failed and is dumping raw fuel into the cannister. Even so, that would only happen if the fuel tank has been overfilled.

Secondary air codes and fuel smell aren't related, not in the way you would think. Secondary Air actually dumps air into the cats, heating them up faster, preventing the truck from running rich too long. You wouldn't smell that under the hood anyway.

When you put the cannibal engine in, did it come with the fuel rail installed, or did you do it yourself . Check the connector between the rail and the fuel line. It may be lose.

Ok folks, I found the issue. It is the slip fitting that attaches to the fuel rail. it has a slight crack... Its something like 450$ to replace the fuel lines and they dont just sell the little piece,,,sooooo its a bush fix time. I am going to just cut off the slip piece which are junk in the first place and hose clamp it on front and back of the raised ring of the fuel line to make sure it wont leak. While I have it apart I will also change my injector O-rings, dont have to worry about wires and coils as they are new. I think this is the source of the weird codes that would pop up as the fuel pressure was not a constant. I want to thank everyone for their input and Ideas where to look. I have always done my own work in past but these discos seem to have habits that are completely their own. ESPECIALLY with O2 sensors!! It seems I think everything will be new after this, lol.....
something extra I also solved before this problem and I feel I should pass it on

if you are mis-firering, O2 sensors can very likely be the cause, dont care what anyone tells you, bad ones did to mine and when I changed them all,, everything was fixed. I am finding out this secondary air system is the worse thing Land Rover ever came up with.
