Default 2003 Disco, Smoke, Syrup Smell and Badly Leaking!

I was driving home last night, parked and shut off my engine and immediately smelled maple syrup. I was wondering if it was a neighbor but glanced back and started to see smoke/steam coming out from the hood.

Looked underneith and saw a lot of liquid dripping dripping and puddling underneith.

I cannot recall seeing or hearing anything different during my drive home and did not look at any gauges before I shut the car off. Nothing close to this has ever happened before this last night.

Any advice or forecast on how hard this is going to hit my wallet before I call the tow out? I've heard everything from head gasket to radiator.

2003 Disco V8 SE 79k miles

Thanks in advance

You'll need to be more specific. What's leaking and where? Sounds like a coolant leak...

Looking underneith it was dripping around the engine area but I couldn't see a direct source and it looked like in the middle of the vehicle. I opened the hood and couldn't see anything from the top down.

Hope that helps!

You are leaking coolant, it shouldn't be green, if it is, you are using the wrong one, should be Dexcool which is pink/orange.
Look at your coolant bottle, it is probably empty.
Do not drive it, sounds like you are not familiar with your engine or very mechanical so I would suggest you find a good Rover mechanic and have it towed to him.

I will take a look at it this afternoon. Biked to the office and planned on setting up a tow this afternoon. If either of you know of a good guy in the DTC/Centennial Area I'll tow it on it.

You might also want to make sure you don't have a broken coolant hose, might be an easy fix.

Where would I look for that Mike?

My mechanical skills only extend as far as my auto insurance claims adjuster background training so I know the lay of the land so to speak but doing anything with it is beyond me!

download the RAVE manual. it will answer all your questions like where is this and what type of fluid does this take. http://www.landroverresource.com/
