Default Fuse 16 (stereo) Keeps Blowing

For some reason, my stereo fuse keeps blowing. It's the 15 amp number 16 fuse. I had an aftermarket stereo in and figured that was causing the issue. I removed it and put the factory stereo back in. All was well for about a day then, it too popped fuse 16.

As far as I know, I don't have any funky wiring tapping off that circuit. It's all factory at this point.

Anyone else ever have this happen?

I'd unplug the radio and see if fuse blows again. Double check wiring harness behind radio, since you've been in there making changes. Maybe a wire has rubbed through.

Also, the Parking Distance Control is on that same fuse, does your Dll have that function? And if it does, is it working properly (when fuse is not blown).

Good idea to just unplug the stereo. If it still blows somehow, the problem might be coming from another source. I did check the wires when I took the aftermarket stereo out and all looked well. I don't have the PDC system or the rear headphone option (S model). The only other thing on that circuit is the clock light.

Looks like I'm driving in silence for a few days.

Well, I pulled the factory stereo back out, put in a new 15amp fuse and now it just blows as soon as I turn the ignition on (stereo disconnected). Removed the climate control to get a better look at the wires. Everything seems fine. Not seeing any rub through. I also tried disconnecting the clock (same fuse) but it still popped.

Only solution left: drive it off a cliff.

You may have to drop the fuse box and look for issues on backside.
