I just bought my disco not too long ago, and i was wondering what everyone gets for gas mileage city & highway? I currently get about 12 city and 16 highway. Is that about right? Thanks everyone!

you can get 14/17 with good 8mm wires, good plugs and a light foot

I just put fresh plugs, 7mm wires and did a hot soak on my 99 D2 and got 15mpg on this last tank. I have a mostly city commute but try and keep a light foot. When the oil that is in it is due for a change I plan on going with a full syn oil and eventually taking the mechanical engine fan off for a 16" Spal electric fan. On my BMW I picked 2mpg and a smoother engine by going to an electric fan.

Your numbers are in original specification. Might be able to squeeze a tiny bit better mileage with a lighter foot and tune up. But very normal.

It's all in a proper tune, tire air pressure and good gas. I have seen people pull up to 20 MPG on the road as long as they stay under 70 MPH.

I usually get 14-15 everyday driving and about 17 highway if I'm driving with my wife driving we have gotten 19. I currently have 88,000 miles on it. Oh it is an '03 disco SE.

21 MPG hwy???

that's great, how did you do it? Achieved at lower speeds? Any mods?

The best I ever got with my 2000 DII was 17.7mpg hwy, with CDL locked and front driveshaft removed. That was during the summer and cc set to 70mph.

I would regularly get sixteen around town though.

Thanks,

Nick

If you are still running on the rear diff only, and haven't yet blown it, I would suggest you reinstall your front drive shaft. Our drive lines are not set up for long time single diff use, the spider gears won't take it and the rear roto flex will wear out quickly.
