Gas Mileage on '03 Disco II?
I have no idea how I can manage to get 21+ mpg on my 01... No mods, just a simple great old disco II that gets more attention than anything else around me... When I purchased the vehicle now almost a year ago, the guy told me he would get that mileage and I did not believe him until I topped up and ran down the chicago hwy's to home averaging around 80mph. Topped her off once home and did the quick math and discovered he was dead on...
I have gotten 24mpg with mine to years ago on a 1400 mile trip.
I get 15 as a daily driver.
Over Christmas vacation I got 13.5 with a cargo carrier on the roof, the family in the truck and about 1,000lbs of luggage/presents/gear in the back.
That was a 500 mile trip.

Those are some impressive numbers guys!!! I never bought my Disco for fuel economy as I' am about six miles from work. Not sure why (makes no sense to me at all) but 19 MPG seems to be a magic number in my mind. Would be elated if I could squeeze that out.
Will never know, as my 2000 DII has been gone since August :-( If I don't sell my 03, will try hard to hit the 19! When I drove it home after purchasing it, got 16mpg. That at a constant speed of 75mph and less than 1000 miles on new engine. So still breaking in I guess. Time will tell.....

Nick

Wow thanks for all of the replys everyone! I just took a 1500 mile trip with mine, with the weather being a constant 20 degrees each way, i achieved 15mpg @ 65mph with the cruise on Michigan & Indiana gas. With Kentucky gas i achieved 18.8!!!! That's with the same driver, @ 65 mph cruise on thru the mountains, plus some stop & go traffic. I filled up with Indiana gas on the way back and got 15 again LOL. Does gas really have that much of an affect on your mpg? I only use Pilot or Shell.
Im dead nuts 16 MPG @ 70 MPH everytime I fill up and do the math. You guys hitting the 20's number, please inforn me of what you guys are doing. Those are awesome numbers for an all-wheel drive that run high RPM's.
Our '03 is mainly a in town kid hauler. We live in a hilly area and average 10 MPG. Recently did a road trip to SLC (1400 miles RT) and got 14 MPG average - but then I was usually doing 75-80 MPH. I think if I kept it to 70 MPH or less we might see 16 MPG...maybe...
low 20s?! I think that's impossible with a disco. I keep it around 65 but if it got in the low 20s at 60 I'd drive 60. Can anybody else confirm this?
