Remove all creature comforts....rear seats, headliner, A/C, chop off the top, remove bumpers.....just strip the bad boy of all safety, cool, pimped out stuff.....then maybe.....only maybe.....might you peak at 18MPG!

Kidding of course mi amigo....just work O/T hours as best you can to pay for the gas and easy on the pedal. O/T hours will also help pay for some expenses that you might incur while owning your disco. Welcome to the "discoteque!" club!

You mean like this.....................Range Rover dune buggy used in TV series by Anneka Rice. I liked the Corvair used by Steve McQueen in the Thomas Crown affair....................wife wouldn't let me have one

If I want fuel economy I drive my Passat TDi.... 50mpg highway driven briskly - 75mph cruising. I use that for commuting and keep the Discovery for weekends.

I've been looking at the Skoda Octavia estate diesel 2.0 litre, 140bhp. Nice economical car for running about. It's the same as the Passat but cheaper.

Mine is the US Passat but I drove a UK-spec TDI wagon in the UK at Christmas, which I imagine is virtually the same car as the Skoda. Very nice... the Land Rover and the TDI average out into a car with normal fuel economy!

Love the diesel VW Bug! Kudos to the Germans. However, my next ride will be a 1979 Ford Galaxy, vapor fueled and getting about 125 miles to the gallon.

As Rod Sterling once said "....you have now just entered the twilight zone.....(and you gotta do that stupid "two-dah-dooh-dah" three times, fast.

What say you now VW TDI?
