Default Gas pedal shutter

I have a 2001 Disco 2 with 168k miles. When I release the gas pedal under light acceleration I can feel a "shutter" and once again if I lightly accelerate again. Typically this happens when I am in light traffic lift the pedal and apply again. This does not happen if I am accelerating normally or with more throttle. Does this make sense its kind of hard to describe.....

I am trying to stay ahead of any large issues if this is an indicator of such. Thanks in advance for any help.

Your throttle body could be sticking, I worked on two LR's last winter that had issues with a sticky throttle. I slapped in good spares I had and sent them on their way. I cleaned them to where they looked great with TB Cleaner, but they still would stick at WOT. I removed the throttle plate and used a scotchbrite pad on each one, the re-assembled everything and bingo smooth as silk.

So I'd personally disconnect the gas pedal cable, cruise control cable, then flip the TB by hand if it doesn't stick check your cables for binding. If it doesn't snap back smoothly clean the TB as best you can, and if that doesn't work remove the TB Plate itself use a scotchbrite pad on the outer edge all the way around, and re-install it and test it.

Where do you feel the shutter, in the fuel pedal or in the chassis (seat of your pants)? Does it feel like drain train? Is your front drive shaft original?

X2... my mind went directly to drive shaft as OP is describing what I felt when my drive shaft was on the way out.

If it’s the drive shaft change it out ASAP!
