Default Gas tank pouring over?

Hey crew. Thanks for remedies for all my other issues. Looking into something that happened at my second fill up, and while on my first over landing trip this weekend in the new to me discovery 2.

went into the local pump station, came out to literal gallons of gas behind the truck and it still just pouring out. I just assumed there was an overflow and went on my way, but then started thinking no that’s impossible the pump would’ve just shut off. It was pouring over the top of the gas tank and down all four sides like a waterfall.

Parked her for a few days for the holiday. Went out yesterday for a bit of overlanding. When the trail got bouncy and hard, me and my buddies could smell gasoline like it was inside the cab with us being thrown around.

Is this a bad seal, a bad seal lid canister, or what all am I looking at doing here? Seems like a ton of different issues similar but not quite as bad. Truck starts and drives fine.

TIA!!

My bet is that either the top of the fuel pump is badly cracked and/or the locking ring is rusted out. You can pull out the cargo space carpet and remove the access plate to inspect.

That’s interesting if there are no codes. If gas is pouring out the top of the tank then there must be a good size hole in the evap system which should throw evap leak codes.

Where else should I check? I have ordered a fuel pump seal. Gonna give that a go. Idk where else to check because it’s coming over the top of the tank and down the sides.

Hey bro!

so I replaced the fuel pump seal. Sure enough that’s what it was. As soon as I pulled the fuel pump up, the seal fell off and it was broken in half. Put the new one on, and went to the petrol station to fill up and sure enough no leak!
