Question Gear Oil turned dark like oil.. Why?

So I have threads going about the transfer case running out of oil.. But this is a different issue.

I replced the fluids in the TC and drove it less than 5 miles. This was 3 different test drives around the neghborhood. speeds up to 45mph..

So I drained it again and the fluid came out dark like oit.. It went in there clearish and now it's not.. I was thinking about re-using this gear oil on the replacement TC but that is now out of the question.

What would cause the oil to turn from clowdy/clear to dark like oil that fast??

Its because you are not completely cleaning the inside and there's still residual dirty oil inside. So, it wont be as clear as the new oil you put in.

The important part is you’re asking the question. You never know what you don’t ask about.
