Default Gearbox Vibration??

Hi,

I'm new to the forum and was wondering if anyone could help me out...

I've got a '96 300 TDi Disco which has recently developed a bad vibration when coasting down from above 3000 rpm in 5th gear. The problem only happens in 5th and stops when engine revs drop below 3000.

I've had my fair share of vibration problems before (including the hit a bump at 60 mph and the car nearly falls apart issue!) but this is different. The vibration is much higher frequency than any other and as a result is quite loud; combined with the fact that it only happens in 5th makes me suspect it's the gearbox. Added to which I've recently re-bushed the suspension and put new shockers all round, as well as a new steering damper so it's not any of the more common problems.

Has anyone else had a similar problem, or any other gearbox related vibration issues?

Thanks in advance.

George
