Discovery2 2004 - Vibration after Gearbox oil change
Hi,
I took my Discovery in to mechanical to look at a slow performing gearbox, especially in the mornings.
They flushed the gearbox oil and the car is driving well now through its gears, problem solved.
I now have a different problem immediately after the oil change, at 80km/100km the car starts vibrating. This never happened since I have the car for 6 years.
It sounds like what people are describing as "DRIVE TRAIN VIBRATION".
Can an oil flush cause this? What could have caused this? I plan to take the car back asap.
Thanks

Please discontinue use until mechanic can inspect the front drive shaft (propeller shaft). These units from the factory did not have grease fittings at every joint, they were sealed lubrication. When they fail, the shaft can split and spear a big hole in the transmission case, requiring a new transmission. See this post which you may wish to print out and take to shop. https://landroverforums.com/forum/sh...ad.php?t=29302
As for the transmission flush, hope they also changed your transmission filter.

How mechanical are you?
I would suggest you take a flash light and crawl under the truck. You want to see if each of the 3 u-joints on the front drive shaft have grease fittings. When was the last time you had a major service done on your truck, how often do you have your u-joints greased?
In the mean time, I would stop driving the truck till you get back to us and lets see if your front drive shaft is failing.
