While Colorado and Discos are a match made in heaven it's not all that it's cracked up to be. These motors are useless at higher elevations and driving 70 out to go wheeling or camping can be an experience....you will be flooring it and watching the speedometer continue to plummet. Fully loaded vehicles or bigger tires only make it worse. Maybe the 4.6 motors are different but my 4.0 really struggles.

I’m not even going to bother reading the comments because I already know the answer through my infinite wisdom and oceans of knowledge. You are 18 and headed to college in Colorado. That’s all I needed to hear. DO NOT get a DII. You will love it but end up hating it because of all the damn time and money it will cost you. Get a reliable suv and call it a day. Get an older Gen 4 4Runner in good shape if money is a factor.

Focus on school man. Get through college and save your money. When you graduate and get a job, maybe then get a DII as a secondary vehicle.

In 10 years, you will look back and say, man that guy was right! Thanks old man!

If he could find a good one that someone maintained and loved = it would be fine, but like I said earlier that is a needle in a haystack for sure. 18 and college is Honda Accord territory IMHO.
