I know how hard to remove those stuck sensors. No matter how much force you try to get those loose, it wont budge. But all the time i get it out. Lots of pb blaster, o2 rsensor removal tool, a large hammer and a pipe extension. Little by little.

Its also a good idea to het it from local auto store since its guaranteed. No waiting time to ship back and wait until return from online stores. AB prices might be expensive but it works for me for a long time until I replaced with Bosch and replacing them more often.

Aboit the picture. It usually burnt but not that bad. Im not sure if theres a way to test them or probably torch them until it hit a certain degree to see if sensors are working.

 

most off em sell both the upstream and downstream sensors and that way you can swap out. If you have an advance auto, you can order online and pick up in store and they usually have a 15% to 20% off coupon on their front page if you do it that way. The AB ones are the walker o2 sensors that only have a 90 day warranty

 

So I finally got the other O2 sensor loosened up. Went to a muffler shop and they lifted the car up, put a crows foot on it and had it loose in 5 minutes. Will get the codes read again tomorrow and find out if it's the sensor that's bad.

On a side note, the guy told me that my catalytic converter was clogged, and it needed to be replaced. My question is, is there a way to clean it out like a radiator flush? If so, is it worth the trouble? Or should I just buy a new one from AB (or some other place)?

 

Did the o2 sensor end up fixing your problem?

 

Maybe? I changed both upstream O2 sensors out, but that was back when it was throwing 1170, 300, and at least 2 30X codes for misfiring cylinders.

I have since taken off the Intake Manifold and replaced the coil packs (never had been done), spark plugs (not done in 100k miles or so), and the wires.

Still have an 1170 code that could be an O2 sensor that is faulty or it could be a crack at the weld spot from the pipe to the cat. I am traveling today, but when I get home tomorrow I'm going to smoke test the exhaust and look for the crack. I've read that this is a fairly common problem.

Doesn't really answer your question, but I went crazy last Saturday and changed all the plugs, wires, coils as well as oil, filter and diff fluid. So I'm assuming between the O2 sensors and the new plugs/wires/coils something got it working better.
