Default Good deal on an '03 Disco?

Hey all, I'm a newbie to Land Rover but I'm looking to get a Disco. Been doing some research past couple weeks and I think I'm set on getting either an '03 or an '04 Disco as they seem to be the best buys right now.

What do you guys think of this ad:

http://atlanta.craigslist.org/atl/cto/1330642681.html

Is he asking too much for an '03 with almost 100k miles? Just looking for some opinions as I shop around. Thanks!

get the VIN # and post it on here somebody can tell you if it falls within the bad oil pump range, if it does then stay away from that rover.

Oh it's in the ad

Does that fall within the affected oil pump range?

EDIT*

Searched the board... 3A771801 - 3A808362 is the affected range right? So that disco should be in the clear...?

Bob, I would still stay away from the 03's.

Yes you're in the clear, but if you can find a 2004 I would recommend going with that because the 04 is by far the best year of the Disco. If you cant, I think that one is pretty resonable based on price, but obviously try to get him to come down as much as you can.

My advise to anyone in the market for a Disco is go test drive 2-3 and compare them. Sometimes you'll realize a problem with one by just driving a different one. Also, before you buy have a mechanic look over it, just to be safe.

Yea, I plan to take all the trucks for a test run and then to the mechanic just to make sure everything checks out. I will probably wait and save for an '04 though.

The mileage is too high as is the cost.
So, I am curious, you mentioned your have been doing research for a couple of weeks and were not aware of the 03's oil pump issue.
I would suggest you go back to the drawing board and start over.
What are you planning on using a Disco for, ever owned a 4 wheeler before?

I was aware of the oil pump issue, but didn't have the affected VIN #'s handy.
Never owned a 4x4, drove my friends 1995 Range Rover Classic for a while, and my friend's 2008 Range Rover for a bit. We go camping/bouldering/fishing/trecking ect often enough (or I'd like to at least) to be able to use a truck like this.

I also need something to lug around my music equipment (fullstack, couple guitars, PA system). And I don't have a car (college junior). A lot of practical uses and I'd like to have fun in a Disco..so thats why I'm considering buying one. I'd just like to browse the market for a couple months and see whats available while I continue to read up on things.

Like I said, I'd love an '04 but I'd settle for an '03 if it was in the clear.

Anyway, I'd appreciate any input/advice any of y'all have. Thanks.
