Got my 04 CDL shifter but no nipple link..
Like the title says. Came across an 04 CDL shifter on ebay. I planned on installing it tomorrow on my 2000 but it didn't come with the link that screws onto the nipple. Before i take apart the console is there an easy replacement i can rig up?
Also one more question this solenoid that keeps you from switching gears that everyone suggests to move is that built in the 04 shifter assembly? just making sure thats what it is before i remove it or shave the pin down.
The solenoid that's built into the '04 linkage assembly can be removed and tossed. There's another solenoid, inside the transfer case in the 2000 that does the same thing, though many people have removed that one too, just to prevent getting stuck in High, Low or lock if it should fail. The one in the linkage is an easy thing to get out; just pull out the silicone seal, remove the c-clip, cut the wire on the back side and it should fall out.
Thank you! Do you know where the solenoid in the TC on the 2000 is located so I can go ahead and remove that too while I'm in there. Im assuming it will be self explainanatory once I'm in there though
You can get the lever directly from Ashcroft. I paid £18 + £8 shipping to the US.
You will need to enlarge the hold where the cable connects to it. The LR cable fitting is larger than the one Ashcroft uses. The thread on the nipple is M8.

Thanks everyone, just got done installing it. If it wasn't so hot out it wouldn't have been bad. But heat makes small things into big annoyances. BUT its installed thats all that matters. I took a linkage off the original transfer case shifter and rigged it to work on the nipple. Worked really good actually. At first the light on the dash came right on no problem when i tested it a few times. But now sometimes when i engage it the light doesn't want to go off when i unengage it. And its flickered a couple times so im assuming thats just the switch acting up?
