Default Great deal on pollen/cabin air filter

After a recent wheeling trip and thinking about all of the dust that was covering my truck, I decided to figure out where the cabin air filter was so I could replace it. Of course I found out it was that long strip above the firewall in the engine bay and of course mine was nonexistent, having probably rotted away years ago in the dry Southwest heat.

I went online and was shocked that a strip of porous foam costs over $30 so I did some research and found this part on ebay.

Seller still has a few available, check out his listing: JZL100120 Land Rover Discovery 2 II Cabin Air Pollen Elements Filter New | eBay

I installed it today and it went in without a problem and looked to be pretty well made. Not sure how much good it really does given the design, but probably better than nothing. I'm thinking next time I may even just make one myself.

Let me know what you guys think.

That's a very good price.

Problem is they tear too easily and also harden and then tear. I replaced mine with a fine plastic mesh netting (insect curtaining) cut to width and with some of the old foam holding it in place. It stops the bugs but not any fine dust.

I'm sure you must be able to buy some foam strip online in the US at a more reasonable price.

I bought the cheap DIY furnace filter material at home depot for around $4.00 and cut it into strips. It works ok but is not long enough to make one single piece however for the price it is better than nothing.

Sounds like a good alternative. They charge a kings ransom for the LR OEM replacement part.
