Yeah I will pass on the hose method though the notion of a quick and easy way to diagnose is tempting but not wise.

Are their any other companies that rebuilt out engines? Atlantic British has already scored some bad reviews and I have stopped buying my parts from them so as far as I can tell the only company left in the US is Cannibal.

I still dont understand how my ticking could stop ticking completely after upgrading the thermostat than months later resume just after doing an engine flush.

You could buy a top hat from Q&E and build it yourself...

My ticking stopped after the the 180 tstat and a new radiator and was gone for months and then returned randomly one day and still get it on occasion until I did the head gaskets and made sure the valve train was torqued to spec and pushrods lifters will all good.

How did you do an engine flush? I have been running rotella for 3 years and the engine was like new inside.

Who is Q&E? I dont have the experience working on the interior components of an engine. Just for laughs I could not even figure out how to get my lightbar wired say nothing about rebuilding a engine! How long did you and I spend on the phone while you tried to walk me through the process of wiring the bar? lol. Id be willing to do the head gaskets on my own or with a buddy as talked about over a month ago but seeing how I will be out of state for work I might as well just have a mechanic do all the work

I dont remember the brand but it came in a grey bottle and I bought it either at advanced auto or autozone (cant remember). Poured in the entire bottle, started the truck and let it idle for 15-20 minutes then turned off and drained the oil. Added fresh oil and a new oil pan gasket.

Hey, Just noticed you plugged me in your signature! Thanks.

Q& E are a machine shop here in CA that do Top Hat blocks. I could help get you one if you wanted to take the plunge.

There is a RAVE manual that is specifically for engine overhaul/rebuild. Electrical always mystified me, but after digging in it has gotten less daunting.

I hear you though, if you have not done an engine build, it can be scary at first. But in the end, its just a bunch of nuts and bolts!

Good luck

Yeah, I asked Dustin to give his review of Q&E's work after he gets his motor back together. Mine ticks, but only occasionally and not very loud now, so I'm not tearing it apart just for that. I seem to have addressed all the leaks and need to get the new u-joints in the front shaft before I do anything else.

there are plenty of places, replacing sleeve is not the same as it was twenty years ago.
More than half the engine built today are sleeved aluminum engines.
there would be very few competent machine shop out there today if they did not have the ability to replace sleeves.

now as for pumping full of slurry use in underground oil drilling, NOT everyone does that.
