Yes, that is a option but aluminum is not the problem...

My wife now has a volvo and i went to meet the service manager to get the low down on what i need to do to mantain it. He happened to be a ex land rover /jag guy and he told me " nothing"... bring it in every 7,000 miles for a oil change service, which is only $99.00 and just drive it.... Oh , and the back brakes will wear out before the fronts... He told me that they dont leak oil and never overheat.... he said he constantly see's cars comming in with over 200,000 and the owners swear by them especially if they had been in a accident in one. There only glitch is usally with software issues but thats about it. I told him i have 2 land rovers and he smiled sarcasticly...saying "i hope you can turn a wrench...then i laughed.... The engine is aluminum as our most cars and trucks today...that isnt the problem....

The problem was...It was a scam, the people at land rover knew they where turning out garbage but tried to deny it... If the Land Rover's where priced for the middle class they would have had big problems but they got away selling to wealthy people who where idiots and would believe what the dealer told them.

"They didnt give a rats *** about there jobs"...They could collect a paycheck and sleep at night and built garbage... I really hate...well, maybe not hate...just absolutly no respect for people like that..there loosers...I deal with these kind of people on a daily basis in the construction business and it takes all my might to not want to throw them out of the 54th floor.... From all my reading i can only asertain that the people at land rover just wanted the money and just didnt give a crap how they got it...period

My wifes Volvo is a huge POS, it is WAY less reliable than my Rover and has 20,000 less miles on it too.

Could that be because you spend so much time keeping your Rover in tip top running condition that you neglect the maintenance on her Volvo? :P

It would have to be pre 1996 to get around emission control inspection/test. I know where ther is a 95 that is missing the engine and tranny. I would like to get it and drop an early american v8 in it.

I had a 1964 Pontiac lemans with an aluminum 326. It was quick.
