Greg Davis Rear Bumper

Greg Davis Rear Bumper
Hey all,
Thought I'd make a thread showing some photos of what is entailed with a GD rear bumper install in case anyone was thinking about it. I'm by no means a mechanic, and most everything I install isn't done using all the materials .
Too much overhang ruins the departure angle.
Bumper is bent, hangs far too low.
This area needs to be cut, preferably smoother than I did. However, I will be installing a plastic trim strip that takes care of any inaccuracy while still looking good.
The "2" in this image represents what I bent with the previous bumper, needs to be hammered down.
The "1" in this image is what needs to be hammered in for the GD bumper to mount correctly. You could cut it off or hammer it in.
Yes it looks terribly, but cutting off that much right before the rear silencer is one of the better decisions I've made with the vehicle. It's not louder at all, the engine does not have a high enough output to necessitate that awful extension hanging down.
This is the piece that mounts inside the wheel well. It's mounted with 3 bolts to where the mudflap bracket mounts.
Here you can see I pulled the quarter protectors out a bit before welding them on the rear bumper, I wanted a little more tree protection.
The height difference and departure angle difference is insane. This is the highest clearance rear bumper you can get for these vehicles.
For the lighting I decided to route my directional wires to the reverse plinths and install amber bulbs. I then routed my reverse lamp wiring to the rear work lamp. In the future I may set up a relay for the system.
The Hella worklamp I bought is amazingly bright and wide for being so small. WORK LAMP HELLA ULTRA BEAM CLOSE RANGE , 90656 - Land Rover Parts | Rovers North
And after a day of off-roading with it yesterday I'm extremely happy with the modification. I didn't get hung up once, and it did great at pushing little trees away from the rear quarters.
Cheers,
Zack
