Grinding noise when starting
Just picked up a grinding noise on my 1995 Disco I while starting.
New starter was put in Fall of 2008 and only gotten about 1000 miles on the car since then. Starting worked fine until I had the dealer do some brake line work last week. He said he had trouble starting vehicle and discovered a faulty fuel pump and replaced it (price was reasonable). Today noticed whining from fuel pump when first going to ACC mode (like it is pressurizing the fuel rail) and again after starting. I can actually hear it in the car, which did not sound normal. Coincidentally got the grinding right about same time. I have only started the vehicle twice since then.
Worried it could be the flywheel or flex plate Shouldn't be the starter as it is almost new. Don't know if this is something the dealer could have screwed up at the same time, but seems to be a pretty strange coincidence.
Battery appears fine, but put it on Battery Tender today to see if maybe a little low on AMPS
Any other thoughts? Could it be a grounding issue?

Your new starter could have been installed wrong or it could be faulty.
Yes the fuel pump is supposed to pressurize the fuel rail before you start the truck.
This happens with all fuel injected cars.
If they worked on the brakes they had no reason to be around the starter.

Only reason I ask about this being something the dealer could have screwed up as he had trouble starting the vehicle and may have started his diagnosis with the starter before moving on to the fuel pump. It is a 1995, so the ODB I can't tell you much and the car started fine before going into the dealer.
