Default hard to start - SES light on

quick trip to the store other night, rover has been running great but did not want to fire up after coming out of store. It took several tries and it did not want to idle. SES came on. The next day it started up great, went to check codes.

p1884 - transmission control or something like that?

p0102 - MAF or VAF A circuit low input

any suggestions? clean mass air flow sensor with intake cleaner maybe? cleared codes and it ran fine yesterday.

From my reading on here, I've heard you should not clean our MAF sensors cause they will burn out.
Could it be that your compressor is running while your Rover is off and running down your battery?

I've seen DiscoMike say numerous times that you'll fry your MAF if you try to clean it (DII only).

yeah it seems like i've read where people say don't clean them..but I think they mean don't clean them with brake cleaner, parts cleaner, etc..you can clean electrical components with contact cleaner..it evaporates.

They sell MAF Cleaner too (I'm sure it's the same stuff you're talking about, just with a different label and a 200% markup)

But what's the difference, if your MAF is trashed already, might as well try to clean it....you can't really make it worse
