"I still cannot understand why the parts are soooooo expensive over here when these parts can be found cheaper even with the shipping in the Uk????? must be a conspiracy!!!"

Maybe they consider anyone who owns a Landrover or foreign car must be 'stinking rich'. There was a common misconception in the UK some years ago that all Americans were rich and would pay the inflated asking prices. I think they've learnt differently now. Genuine Landrover spares are expensive even in the UK as well whereas good quality after market spares are far more reasonably priced. I cannot comment on shipping costs from the UK to the US but from the US to France is sometimes reasonable and other times prohibitively expensive.

In all fairness, it may be prohibitively expensive to import foreign made spares into the US with import duties etc. I can imagine that home produced spares, GM, Ford, Chrysler/Dodge etc are probably far cheaper like for like.

As an aside, I was watching a programme about Motown, Detroit, on the TV recently, I couldn't believe that such a thriving town is now an industrial, lawless wasteland, it is tragic when one considers it was the hub of the US motor manufacturing.

Like many car owners, and you would think LR owners near the top of this list, they want convenience. To them convenience is the parts guy in town, and a savings is calling or internet order to another parts guy in another state for a better price. Many people are still living in a vacuum of the US consumer world, even though most of what they buy is from China, they see a face in the US and have a complaint department to talk to in the US. They do not venture into overseas purchases. They see them as risky and a mystery.

Good thing is that those who are willing to do a little more shopping can save a buck, and that means us! So that's good! Keeps the local and other US vendors in business, so when we need something a little faster they are available, but for us who now feel comfy with overseas purchases and are willing to search can find the savings!

Well the problem now is finding more rubber bands to keep it all together.

You know, because of all the money from the <1% of US citizens that drive Land Rovers.

I've ordered small parts from them before and worked out perfectly. Right now I'm waiting on delivery of four terrafirma shocks from them.
Absolutely madness that it's cheaper in Toronto to get them shipped from the UK than it costs to get them shipped from Buffalo, NY (lucky8). 300k overland vers 3000k over the Atlantic. But there you have it.

And shocks arrived this morning. Didn't even get dinged by customs.
So $300 CND for all four Terrafirmas delivered. Way better than anyone local (was quoted $179 each for original LR parts, not delivered, plus 15% tax — no one even had the terrafirmas).

So yes, I'm pleased with them.
