Default Head bolt question

Do the headbolts on the discovery go into the water jacket or are they dry?
Asking if I have to put sealant on the bolt threads. Thx

Download and read the (free) RAVE factory service manual on installing the heads. Manual states TTY head bolts should have a light coat of oil for accurate torque procedure .

I think that I applied a sealer to the end head bolts (well, studs for me)? Hard to remember. I was thinking that the end studs *did* go into the water jacket.

On the studs I used loctite, and on the end studs I used loctite on the bottom of the studs and sealer on the top few threads.

You don't oil the ARP studs (maybe different for actual OEM head bolts??), but you do use precision torque grease on the nuts and 1 side of the washers that go onto head studs.

Atlantic British has videos on their site. Watch the head gasket install video.

Cool. Thanks for the replies. I'm gonna check out the video at AB since I'm putting in studs. Another thing is what are ya'll's opinion on putting rtv on the front cover gasket?. Manual says dry but I've read about several people doing it with success.

Ultra black rtv, on the oil pan, timing cover, and valve covers. By the instructions/cure time before adding oil.
A small even bead on both sides of the gasket.
I also retorque all the bolts after about an hour.
