Head Gakets?
The beloved culprit is a 98 Dico 4.0. I was one of the few faithfull who have been very lucky with their Discovery experience. Many, many off-roading trips all around california and nevada. Then I had an unfortunate incident close to 100k, as it overheated suddenly. I checked the coolant level and it was low, so I filled it to the propper level, long story short, the reservoir was broken after a visit to a non-rover mechanic. So I recently replaced the coolant reservoir. It worked fine for a few weeks. Now suddely, it is making strange gurgling noises coming form the engine, the coolant level is fine. And has not overheted in a long time. Is this an indicaion of a head gasket problem? Pherhaps a seal? The sepentine has also been recently replaced. The lights in the dashboard flicker lightly... The sound is not a pleasant one. Is there anything I can do to check this on my own? Is there a guide i can downlad somewhere? I dont want to even move it until I figure something out...
Thank you.
Thank you.
Sounds like you have air trapped in your engine, which makes a gurgeling sound when you accelerate.
You need to bleed the system and then do a pressure test to verify where the leak is coming from.

Do you know any reputable Rover mechanics in the LA area? I have to say that most of the ones that I know start the conversation with, "Well you know, its a Rover so its going to be expensive" I hate that attiude, specially when they perform poorly.
thanks
