Default Which Head Gasket? Composite or Shim?

I see the Atlantic advertises head gaskets as "composite" and they also seem to offer a standard type gasket. Do I want the composite ones?

I plan on ordering most parts from my regular foreign car parts source - fap99.com. The prices are about 1/2 of Atlantic but they do not offer the composite head gasket.

Thanks,
Dave K.

I've only seen and used composite head gaskets. Most people use composite I believe also they give you a little head space when you get the heads planed down flat.

Default other brand

I havent talked to this company but on a another rover forum someone wrote:

Cometic recently, and they now have 4.0/4.6 MLS gaskets!
If these things can seal up a 7500 horsepower top fuel engine running 70 pounds of boost, they'll seal up our 9.5:1

Wouldn't hurt to find out thoe.

Good luck, Chris

i have used Cometic in my racing engines in the past and it held everything I threw at it. However the key thing in any good gasket is to make sure the mating surfaces are flat.

+1...nothing else matters if you don't have this condition.
