When I did mine, I was glad that I elected to replace the coil packs with new good quality ones (OEM). I wish I had got a valve job done, I had the heads resurfaced and new stem seals, but a valve job would not have been much more at the machine shop and might have got me some compression back.
It would not be a bad idea to have some heli coil or time serts in the right thread sizes on hand. You could always return them, and would hopefully be able to.
What I WISH that I had done was use a dremel to hand grind the exhaust ports on the heads to match the exhaust headers at the inner edge of the exhaust gaskets.
Could someone clarify this? I’m a bit confused. Is the port on the head smaller than the exhaust headers?

you'll have to measure your own, but compared to the exhaust manifold gaskets both the head exhaust ports and manifold ports were restrictive on mine. Like, by mm's.
I have the H180 cam so the head is breathing a bit more than stock. It made a difference enlargening them. I cannot speak to the stock cam.
replacing the valve stem seals should be a no-brainer. it's such a simple job. even if you have your heads sent out to be skimmed/tested etc., you can still do it yourself after you get them back rather than pay an exorbitant amount to have someone else do it.
as for the sai pipes, i was able to get one of the injectors loose on each side without distorting the pipe, enough so that i could unscrew that injector. after one injector is out, the other one can be loosened safely without worrying about pipe damage.
Ok I got the heads off, took them to a machine shop and I am cleaning everything in the meantime. I have a lot of tiny gaskets and stuff in which I honestly have no idea where they go but no worries.... I at least know where the major stuff goes.
