This is an interesting project, wish i had more room to set parts its gettin crowded in the garage. The Benz must go in at night ms slabrat insists :-)

I know your pain, my friend. I'm entering week three. It would have been a simple HG job, but I had other leaks and things I wanted to be sure of. So, it went from "hey, I should replace my head gaskets" to "hey, let's rebuild the top end."
Waiting on the last of the parts now.
At least I'll have confidence in it when it's done!

easier to take off all the bolts for the exhaust manifold while in the car.
the exhaust manifolds can then be tied back and the heads removed.
Reason-
the Y pipe to exhaust manifold bolts may snap.
Exhaust manifold to head bolts may snap too.
Walk them out carefully by going out, in out in out.
If you take them out and they are resisting - even at all.
They will snap.

I think I may have found my leak. I'm not pic savvy on here, not sure how to put more that 1 pic in Probably a size thing.. Yea its always about size

Need for the experts to give a look and see if you see anything bad. Valves look a bit burnt . THe head gaskets were changed one before . The bottom coil pack bolts one head bolt was not torqued very tight and 2 exhaust bolts were finger tight.

Coolant in the hole means nothing. It just spilled in there.
You need to look at the old head gaskets.
CRITICAL.
You MUST get ALL the coolant out of the holes.
If not- hydrolock and you will strip the head bolt threads or worse trying to go the 2nd 90 degrees.
Valves don't look burned. That's just how they are after a lot of miles.
You can get carb cleaner and a wire brush and carefully remove all that.
Make sure it turns out all clean

you may be able to remove the coolant in the head bolt holes via compressed air.
Or take a shop towel and make it into a spear by twisting it and carefully get it down into the hole to soak up the coolant and pull it back up.
be careful tho.
