Default Head Gasket with warranty

Well, I took my 2003 to Houston Tx, Landrover Dealership today. I noticed I had small leaks around the head gasket on each side of the engine. The leaks must have been on the outside edge because I had no overheating problems and this has been going on for a few months. It was so small, I have put 2,000 miles on it and it has not leaked more than a 1/2 cup full of raditor fluid.

When I purchased my Discovery 2 last year, I also purchased a extended warranty from Fidelety Insurance 36,000 miles or 3years. They are supposed to pay all labor and parts. I guess i will find out how good the extended warranty is when the dealership contacts them tommorow to set up payment arrangements. Yall cross your fingers that they give me no trouble paying the full amount. I will keep you up to date as I get more info.

Default Will be interesting

Please let me know the update. A friend is looking to purchase a Waranty for a 2nd hand Disco 2 and I'd like to see a positive outcome as it's much needed.

I had purchased the Land Rover warranty and locked had the same gasket and plus valve failure. I read the contract front to back. Land Rover, APCO rejected the claim on the basis of sludge build up.

What was interesting was the dealer played me saying it was the issue with my waranty company. In the case of the Land Rover waranty the wording spelled out the contract was between (in the legal terms) You and Us. You being the buyer (me), Us = Land Rover NA. The administrator was appointed by Land Rover NA = APCO.

When I sat down with the Dealer service manager and my copy of the contract - they could not find a copy to reference - it was interesting to watch them explain their incorrect understanding of the contract.

In the end it worked out as the Land Rover waranty picked up the cost for me.

My prior Discovery I as covered by a Waranty Gold contract that moved from Texas to the Carribean overnight in a wire transfer. The executives of that company also moved as well. In the years since that case has journeyed through the courts in Bankrupcy I have neevr seen a refund, although lots of other lawyers and accountants have.

GODSDOZER, let me know as well the outcome. I too live in Houston ( Clear Lake ) and have been debating on what Land Rover / Jaguar dealership ( North Houston or Sugarland ) to drop my Disco II for head gasket work.

Update..........The dealership called me today, my warranty company is covering the full price of my headgasket job less my $100 detuctable. I have the silver plan from fidelity.

discoveryhouston, I took my rover to the dealership on I-45 just south of the woodlands.

included in this update is my dealings with the service guy...........When he called about my warranty he also said his mechanic broke two of my Magncore wires while pulling them off.............He told me they were not responsible for breaking them........He told me if I wanted them to continue with the head gasket work, I would need to drive down to houston and remove the rest of the wires myself.........I then told him to replace my two magnacore wires they broke and I would be down to houston on monday to pick up my vehicle and take it to land rover dealership in dallas. (I live between houston and dallas). This was a rather heated conversation on both our parts. I hung up on him and about 15 minutes later, he called back and said they would replace my wires no charge. I then told him he could proceed with my headgasket job.

If the place cannot get wires off without effing them up, makes you wonder.

After that conversation I would have certainly taken it to the other dealer. As long as the warranty would cover the job of course...
