Huh, news to me on the scotchbrite. I've used them on a couple engine refreshes and they're still going strong, but I reckon time will tell. I've always been real picky about making sure I never leave any abrasive dust from anything behind though, and it's always used with carb cleaner or wd40 so there's no dust flying everywhere; it gets suspended in liquid.
I stand by what I said about the finish though. Milling the heads leaves a similar finish to a sanded head (if the feed rate was slow enough), and is still rougher than a scotchbrite cleaned head. Which leaves a pretty smooth finish. Maybe don't use the scotchbrite on the block (though I've done it...), But the head should be fine as long as it's thoroughly cleaned which I do every time.

Ok, I got my heads milled down the the max, .002 and the intake manifold fit on no problem.
Now, I can't believe I did this, but I did not label the rocker arm assemblies ( I did not disassemble them), and after searching for a half hour, can not identify which is right and which is left. It looks like it is important to put them on the correct side. Any way to tell them apart?

I'm not sure if that helps you identify which side is which, or if it just helps you ensure that you've got them the correct way around.

Dang thanks! I just took the rocker cover off the driver's side, do you think the LH side means the US drivers side? If so I got lucky and got them correct, the notch is towards the back on the driver's side.
But, thinking about it a little more closely, they are in this sense interchangeable, if I mounted the one on the LH side to the RH side, the notch would be towards the front. The only way to do it wrong would place the pushrod ends obviously in the wrong position on the metal pad instead of the indentation on the rocker arms.

So yes, LH side is the US driver's side.
This does not help you reinstall the rockers in their original positions, but it ensures that they're at least oriented correctly.
