Default headlight problem

Hello all,
I have a headlight problem. I replaced my bulbs going back about 9 months ago with Sylvania Silverstar (they were on sale) bulbs. All has been well up until about a month ago when I started to see that one bulb (the passenger side) was dim as compared to the driver side. I figured that the bulb was going somehow and just figured I would wait until it went completely. Anyway, last night I went out to the truck and had no headlamps whatsoever. All the other lamps would come on, including the interior lamps, but not the headlamps. I then tried to put the high beams on to see if I could get any light, and the instrument cluster illuminated that they were on, but the headlamps still showed nothing. I then proceeded to turn off the high beams, but the truck wouldn't respond to them shutting off. Even if I turned the lights off and on completely it would still have the blue high beam indicator at the top. I decided to have a friend give me a lift home and would deal with the problem this morning.

So, now we get to today. I figured that I would check to see if both bulbs were done for (both went at the same time last time I replaced them) and I took apart the drivers side lamp. All seemed to be okay as I saw that the filaments in the bulb were intact. Intrigued I went into the truck and turned on the lamps. Guess what .... they turned on and the high beams responded as they should. So, here is where I am at. I don't want this phantom to come attack me again one night when I am up in the mountains somewhere and have noone to give me a lift, so what could be my problem? Bad ground or something?

Another piece of info is that I have the trailer wiring harness from AB that I have had on there for about 5 years now.

Any help will be appreciated

Head light stalk switch would be one place to start, they corrode up and become temperature sensitive. You have to turn wheel 90 degrees to access it.

Is there a way to clean the contacts of the switch or do I need to get a new one. Also, would this be the culprit if the only thing that didn't come on was the headlamps. When I turned the switch all of the interior lights came on along with the exterior tail lamps etc. I figured that if it were the stalk nothing would happen but I am oftentimes wrong ha
