Default Headlight swap

I know there are threads on headlight swaps, and I hope the pictures are a little more complicated than the process. Before I do this (which is planned for this weekend), I wanted to be sure I am doing the RIGHT swap.

I have a 2000 Disco II with square headlights. I recently dismantled a 2003 and kept the headlights and wires/connectors about a foot back from each side. I used a Mother's kit on them and they look brand new. My truck is blue and the finishers are green, but I will probably just sprat them black to match the ARB Bumper.

Why not the swap? I like the square lights.

Why the swap? My driver side square light is not adjustable... I don't remember exactly what happened but the bottom bolt is gone from the bracket. Also, the lights are not very bright and don't match the hue of all of my other lights (which are LED).

I can do basic welding if it is not in a spot people will look, can drill out rivets, etc. Still looks like a bigger job than I'd hoped.

So, first, does anyone advise AGAINST the swap? If so, any ideas where to get a new setup for my driver side light and increase its output?

Second, if the swap, do you know where I can find the EASIEST guide to doing it? I'm not interested in a kit; I want to do it this weekend.

Third, Is there some Defender-look or blacked out look, or better light setup that I should be looking at?

Thanks!

Charlie V

Let me check my basement. I still have my passenger headlight with bolts. PM me so I don't forget.

If you really want to do the swap, I did it with a saw-zall. Cut the necessary space and bolt on. Works like a charm. Just need finisher and some paint.

Well I do have a sawzall and, HAHAHA IM NOT AFRAID TO USE IT. I also have a 2003 grill and the wiring stuff to splice. Maybe I shouldn't trouble you about the squared ones... I did PM you though.

I actually really like the look of the 99-02 grill with the 03-04 headlights. Very nice.

They are plastic, you should not use them. I can send you an early D2 headlight and you send me your 03' headlights so I can dispose of them properly according to local environmental laws...

Yeah it is kind of the old jeep new jeep thing. I really would like more light, though. I'm old.

So, more light and less sagging pants! And no more loud music! A little modesty! Thick sweaters! Haha

I thought I had read a few times before that they actually put out less light?

I need to redo mine. The PO did a ghettofied installation. Looks good on the outside, but when you look closer it's terrible.

The whole light pivots from the top. I'm going to check now if I can find a flashlight.
