Okay I owe you a basement cleaning. I took everything out of the way and there are three screws on the light. That's all it takes. The problem is that the bottom screw is supposed to be in the little plastic socket. Some MORON (me) messed up that socket and the screw therefore just sort of rests against it. The result is that the light hinges at the top. It has been that way forever but it keeps me from properly adjusting the light.

Very kind! As a land rover owner at 13mpg I am obviously concerned about the environment! Hahhaa. I'm constantly trying to figure out how to do away with catalytic converters and wondering if my land rover leaks enough oil, and I keep it full, whether that's the same as an oil change. Hahaah

Jeez. They put out LESS light?! I need some giant Hellas. Or new eyes.

Do they really put out less light?! What started me on this quest was the desire to have more light. I looked at LED bulbs for my headlights but learned that a more projected beam was necessary and then remembered that my driver side was messed up anyway. So the newer style lights are at least more projected and I had a donor discovery.

I know you were joking Abran but I really was put off that they were plastic! I'm a brat! I didn't know that until I had the donor truck. I should have known.

So I'm really interested in this light thing because that was my whole reason for changing. I got the rectangular spots to accessorize my square headlights. Hmph.

Keep your early headlights. The lights on my 99 are better than my 04's.

But they don'y look nearly as good.

Do the swap and put in HID's.

My buddy is doing the headlight swap so I got an old headlight with the little plastic keepers. Now I've got two extras. That works. Thanks for everyone's input. I'm still slobbering over the headlight swaps and HID/projector conversions but for now I'll stick with what I have. This solution was just too easy.

Also, working on his I finally noticed the little tabs that keep my headlight in, and WHOA it is easy to swap the bulbs. In fact, it is the ONE thing I have found on my Disco that is easier to do than on any other vehicle. I wish I'd noticed that last time I replaced the bulbs.
