Default Headlight Washer How to Install???

Hi Guys:

Ok someone broke one of my headlight washers on my Disco II. I bought the part along with the hose connector. I was wondering if anyone knows how to install this thing. Do I have to remove the front bumper to get access to it or is there another way?

Thanks!!

Phil

Phil,
I replaced my factory bumper sometime back, but if I remember right, if you can't get to it from under neith then yes, the bumper will need to come off.

I'm honestly not certain what you mean about removing the bumper, but I just replaced both of my washers about a month ago on my '01 Discovery. There is a single screw that holds them onto the bumper.

I found the easiest way to do the job was to disconnect the rubber hose right from the plastic nozzle (twist and pull) and only replace the nozzle portion so you don't have to bother unclamping and reclamping the new hose.

How do you get a nut on the single washer screw? I tried installing the headlight washer on the bumper and could not access it without removing the bumper.

Is attempting to replace the headlight washer jets worth removing the bumper to do this? Will the bumper not fit properly after I remove it?

I hate to have go to body shop for this and started thinking instead of causing unnecessary repairs to the body to just get the bumper plugs to fill in the empty holes in the bumper instead of the jets.

Any ideas appreciated.

Thanks

Searched everywhere for this info. Finally found it. If old hose is still in place easy replacement. (2001 Disco)

its a simple philips head screwdriver and a pick and a pair of pliers. use the pick to take off the screw cover and a the screwdriver to take it out. But use the pliers to pull up the hose.

its easier to reuse the hose from the previous washer

I got some new washers with hoses, but no screw to attach them. The cost for the screw and holder is ridiculous. Anyone have a work around?

Anyone out there know where to get a screw and cap to hold the headlight washer on?

If its just a threaded piece then go to Lowe's or Fastenal if you've got one nearby. Take the piece with you and match a new nut.

Just to close this out. The official screw from LR is a #8 1/2. I bought a #8 3/4 with a nut to secure the washer better.
