Default Heads back from being milled. Valve clearance issues?

When I removed my heads I didn't see anything that indicated that the heads had been removed/milled. When I picked them up the guy at the counter explained that someone that had worked in the motor previously had removed the fittings that normally cover up the SAI port and banged freeze plugs down in the hole and then put epoxy down the hole to cover it up. I saw in the RAVE manual to remove these fittings. As I was in the disassembly process I noticed that there were no fittings and ran my finger over the place were they were supposed to be and didn't see anything remarkable (heads were quite dirty). In fact the two inside exhaust fittings looked just like the two outside ones, slightly raised and smoothed off. Anyone that has had their heads off or messed with these fittings will know what I a talking about. SO, I am know wondering if A) the heads have been off before and possibly milled. And B) if they have been milled before and I just had them milled again am I in danger of having valves and pistons slapping together? I voiced these concerns to the guys at the shop and they said that they took off 1 one thousandths from the heads and that I am not going to have clearance issues. We are also going over options to address the SAI ports that have been completely destroyed ( threads absolutely gone, passage of freeze plug has made port uneven all the way down) by the freeze plugs.

Check the specs in RAVE, they give the limits.

Why did you have the heads resurfaced, were they warped, if so by how much
I doubt you have a clearance issue, this of course will depend on what was taken off this time as well as the first time, also the shop should have measured before he cut them to make sure you will have enough meat left on the heads.
The other issue of course is your ever changing compression. I would look into the different head gaskets to see which will give you a better fit/clearance.

Why else would I have them milled? The shop said they were barely warped, I didn't get the measurements on how much.

Has anyone seen this thing with the SAI ports before? Has anyone attempted it? Aside from demolishing the threads and destroying any option for a real repair it seems like it held up.

I have not attempted the SAI ports before. I do know that the shop that I took my heads to said they have a 15 thousandth threshhold. So as long as the person who has been in the heads before did not shave more than 14 thousandth off before you, you should be fine with clearance.

Most people take the lugs from a SAI truck at a salvage and weld them shut. Then they install to plug it.

If they aren't leaking, I would leave them alone..

.001 will not make any differance. A sheet of paper measures .002-.003 to give you an idea of how small that is.
