Default Valve clearance adjustment

This engine has hydraulic valve lifters; are none adjustable, unlike earlier adjustable valve clearances done on non hydraulic lifter engines. However, it still may be advisable to install and use some sort of clearance adjusting device, as shown by my early experience with this engine, as used in 1970 Rover 3 litre car and other vehicles. Do google search for what you seek, and you will eventually find an old website out of England, whereby Rover engine rebuilders talk about exactly what you ask about.

Disco mike did a write up a couple years ago describing the rocker arm shim procedure. As earlyrover said, lifter preload is about the only thing you can change. What exactly is your issue?
