Default LOL forced spark plug change.

So today as i was checking my spark plugs for anything like oil or water, I wasnt paying attention and snapped the top of one right off. So i went to checkers and threw down 50$ for a new set of bosch Platinum 4s... Couple of questions. What are the issues with magnecor 7mm wires in the disco 1? And also on the air intake side of the motor all four spark plugs had unburned oil on them? WHAT IS THIS? Should oil be VERY SLOWLY leaking out from the valve cover? i wipe it away and it stays clean for about 5 seconds and just a tad bit more runs out and stops? its right at the bottom of the valve cover.

The 7mm wires will be just fine.

Your valve covers are leaking, normal and easy fix.
You will need a 8mm 12 point socket, deep well is preferred.
Tighten the valve cover nuts, do this at every oil change, both sides.
Do not over tighten them, just good and snug.

I think I need to tighten up all bolts on mine - the whole engine has a layer of oil! I guess it stops it rusting.
I read a good tag the other day:
Landrover - putting oil back in the ground for 60 years!

You engine is made out of aluminum it does not rust. The layer of oil and grime will just act as an insulation layer and keep your engine hot.

Good Point!
Fact is, the more I work on it, the more of it comes off the engine and ends up on me. so it's getting cleaner.
