I’m replacing my heater core in my 2003 LR D2. I pulled the old one out. The lines were in poor condition so I replaced the lines. The metal clamp that connects the lines to the core seems a little flimsy. Anyone have issues with the connectors? Does the core handle a lot of pressure? Anyone convert to a different connector?
Yes, the connectors are a bit flimsy but the o-rings do all the work. Only about 16psi in the system so you will be fine. Just be sure the o-rings are straight and don't over-tighten the connectors.

I copied FridayNightDisco's idea. I found it impossible to get the orings and clamps at the heater core to seal without removing the heater core and working in an open space.
Cut an inch or two out of the aluminum pipe and then used heater hose (clean inside of hose and pipe for clean tight fit) to join them back up. New clamps tightened very tight and no leaks.
