Heater Fan Noise - where to start?
When I run my heater it sounds like a vaccuum or airplane is under the hood. The higher the fan speed, the louder the noise. Heat is still coming out. I turned on the AC to see what would happen and it made it even louder.
I'm a little low on coolant (about an inch from full). I saw some threads on here that seemed to indicate there could be a link to heating problems, but the noise and coolant didn't make sense to me.
Any suggestions on where to start trying to diagnose this?
Thanks!!!

The only two parts of your HVAC system that are rotational are the compressor under the hood, and the fan which is located just under your glove box. Does it do this all the time or only when you first start your truck? Does it stop and start as you turn your hvac controls on and off?
I am willing to bet your blower motor is starting to go. The sound is probably from the motor brushes against the back of the motor as it rotates. They will eventually stop running all together someday and you will either need to source new brushes or replace the whole fan unit.
I would agree, but the word vacuum/airplane got me thinking SAI. I pulled my motor recently and cleaned out enough leaves to start a fire roast marshmallows. Cleaned it up in there and sure made a difference.
I let the smoke out of my motor; when I opened it up the brushes were charcoal, and they were not replaceable.
Got the new motor, have 12V at the motor and a signal from the control head, but the motor does not run; I have a feeling that Rover regulates the current to the motor and that the shorted brushed took out the fuse that the engineers so kindly place INSIDE of the resistor pack.
I'll let you know how rebuilding the pack goes, I guess...
