Help with 04' Deal Breaker? Good/Bad?
I'm seeking some opinions from you guys, maybe for peace of mind or s**t just to help me figure this out! I just bought this 04 DiscoII S with 76,540. NO ACE, NO SLS, does have all the other standard features. I am almost done with the full bumper to bumper service, using only the best of everything. Now there are some minor problems that are creeping out. The gear shift *** lock/unlock button for the tranny does not work, you can just put it in gear, pass rear doorlock doesnt unlock/lock automaticaly, the fuel guage only reads a little over 1/2 to 3/4 full when its completely full, pass rear valve cover seaps from the back corner a little, the driver side mirror dosent automaticaly adjust in/out only does up/down, its missing the battery and surp belt cover, all in all I know this is just petty stuff but it fells like I'm opening a can of worms! There has been 4 previous owners, pretty much one every year. It practacly looks brand new inside and out, couple little tiny dents on pass side and no Land Rover sticker on hood+lots of chipps. I paid $7,600 for it. Should I sell this and buy one of the SE, SE7, HSE, HSE7. I can sell this for about what I can buy an SE for, so it still would cost me the same or a little more. It would take a while to find a black one thats a deal and has service records with less little problems! I dont need all that fancy stuff but the ACE and SLS would be nice. Or fix the little stuff and enjoy the standard options. I am going to build this slightly, 3', skid package, winch, ect... Let me have it, all opinions help!
Keep it, you are going to make it a trail rig anyway and you dont want the SLS or ACE to get in the way, no to mention that everything you have mentioned is just petty stuff.
You can buy the covers that you are looking for, when you get new tires they will repalce the valve stems.
Fix the door lock.
As for the fuel gauge, if the fuel pump was replaced then maybe they didnt adjust the sending unit properly. You caould try and do it yourself.
Also if the gas that you are buying has lots of ethenol in it it can mess with the sending unit. Run it to empty and then fill up at a different gas station.
