Default Help!

My 2000 Disco 2 just broke down. I was simply driving it down the road when it just shut down, like I ran out of gas. All the electrical was functioning but my motor shut down. Now when I try to start it, it doesn't start, like its not getting any gas. Could this be a fuel pump problem?

Give it 2 or 3 hours, it will probably restart. If it happens again, you most likely have a crank sensor failing.

Default Thanks Disco Mike!

Well you were right. I went back after about 2 hours and it started right up. Now what to do about the crank sensor? Will it do this again? Can it be replaced? and how hard is it to replace?

Thanks again!

If you have long arms, double jointed wrists, and hands the size of a 12 year old Asian chick, I hear its pretty easy.

Yes it will do it again and get worse so it won't start at all.
If you are pretty mechanical, yes it is pretty easy to replace.
It is located at the back on the engine, drivers side next to the bellow housing and under the head.
Go to Rover Connection, click on Disco2 parts, scan down to crank sensor, click on the picture and you will see what it looks like.
