Default HELP!! '95 disco not starting!!

please help..I'm desperate!! all of the lights and chimes are working, battery is about a month old. A friend did try to jump start her, with no luck. I turn the key but the engine does not turn over. I can hear relays working. when i turn the key the radio looses power and asks for the code. The alarm has never worked so i dont think its the problem. I have moved the gear selector back and forth (automatic). I thought it might be the neutral safety switch? Where is it located??? Any ideas?? I cant afford the dealer, and at this point I cant even afford a tow. Car is at work. Thanks so much for reading this!

Does it crank or just click? Make sure you have tight and clean connections at your battery.

Sounds like your battery is dead or you have a bad battery cable.
Because the radio is asking for the code this means that it does not have enough power to keep its memory.
When you try and start a car, any car, 90% of the batteries power is sent to the starter, if you only have a 50% charge on the battery and then 90% of that goes to the starter then you dont have enough left for the radio to keep its memory.
Make sure all battery cables are tight, hook the other car up to it and let it charge your battery for 20-30 mins, remember that the other car MUST be running while doing this.
Then try and start it.

Default 95 disco

It will not crank at all!! Starter does nothing at all. I did try to jump it, with the same symptoms. I will try a longer jump this weekend. This weekend i will also try to check the starter connections. I did check the battery connections. This is just strange. Not a single hint of a problem starting before this! Thanks for the advice so far....please keep it coming guys!!

Remove the negative battery cable completely and inspect it. It's extremely easy to do since it's just connected to the frame straight down beneath the battery (12mm bolt if memory serves). Bend it back and forth at about 2 inch intervals, and feel for any 'crackling'. Look closely at each part of the cable that's not covered by the black wire cover. Is any of it green and corroded? If so, just replace the cable. It's cheap, and likely due for replacement anyway. If that cable replacement solves the problem, then it's a good idea to go ahead and replace the positive cable to the starter as well.

I had this exact same problem with my work van a couple of weeks ago.
Tried to jump it with another van, no go, Chevy uses a small alternator.
Jumped it with my Disco and she fired right up, LR uses a large alternator.
I had a bad cell in the battery.
Replaced the battery and good to go.
New batteries can go bad.
