Help with bottom engine bolt broken.

Default Help with bottom engine bolt broken.

Hey guys I have a large problem, I was trying to tighten this bolt up because it was leaking and it snapped off around it and so question 1 what the heck is this bolt? And then 2




what the heck am I supposed to do now? Help.

Ah alrighty I guess I just found out it's the oil cooler plug? Either way if so how the heck am I supposed to fix this lol.

that really sucks! options:

1) some kind of metal epoxy and a prayer, and hope it does not blow out on the highway
2) have broken part welded back in
3) have the whole area welded with a new bung machined for that plug.

not sure if you can weld this in place upside down because you need a mig welder and a lot of heat.

It was leaking because of old O ring, and maybe because of a hidden crack, which you just found....

Yeah I was thinking about welding but now that I think about it my engine has high mileage at about 135,000 so honestly I could just replace the whole front timing cover probably needs it anyway, if I wanted to go a more pricey route but at least I know that would work

Because that's that screw on the bottom right there.

yep, that is the best way , and get some oil pump gears too.....

Looks like new front cover time. You could get one from a junk yard and save some $$$ as they usually go for around 400-500.00 new.

I vote for a new (or good used) front cover.

Unrelated, but what’s up with that oil filter? How long has that thing been there?

Well when I sprayed up under there to clean the engine with the power washer a whole lot of it came off today but either way yeah it's due in for a new one anyway lol.
